Neil W. McCabe, the national political editor of The Star News Network, sat down with John Solomon, the editor-in-chief of Just the News, to talk to the veteran journalist about his recent interview with President Donald J. Trump at Mar-a-Lago, his Palm Beach, Florida, resort.
The president told Solomon he is worried about the country’s culture, economy and security, and he knows it will take a lot of work to unwind the damage Joe Biden has done to the country’s culture, economy and security.
Solomon said Trump told him that he feels like the country could slide into communism or socialism if those trends are not stopped now, and shared his thoughts about how best to move the country forward and away from economic oppression.
Finally, Solomon said Trump did not give the answer that everyone wants to know about the president’s plans for 2024, but he left Mar-a-Lago offering what Solomon took as a possible hint.

McCabe: Just the News Editor-in-Chief John Solomon told The Star News Network when he interviewed President Donald J. Trump at Mar-a-Lago he found the President in top form.
Solomon: I’ve had the chance to interview President Trump several times. This was the time I’ve mostly seen him feel a sense of urgency and express a sense of urgency.
He basically said early on in the interview, hey, we’re headed towards communism and socialism. The country we know is about to slide away from this, and I want to stop it.
McCabe: Solomon said Trump is focused and carries a sense of urgency. Trump is also aware that he needs to unwind the damage Joe Biden has done to the country’s culture, economy, and security, he said.
Solomon: In his mind, much like he did in 2015 and 2016 when he first burst on the scene, he has very clear policy agendas for how he would reverse the Biden agenda and get America out of what he sees as in a tailspin.
McCabe: Solomon said the businessman-turned-president has specific plans to move America forward, such as his plan to use energy production to break inflation.
Solomon: Here’s how you get inflation down. If you bring energy prices down, he says all of the rest of inflation, comes down. Why? Because everything else in the economy depends on having energy.
Fertilizer comes from energy sources, food trucks, delivery products, plastics. If you get energy solved, inflation is going to come down a lot quicker than worrying about interest rates and everything.
McCabe: Despite all their time together, Solomon said Trump did not tell him what everyone wants to know, but he did leave Mar-a Lago with a clue.
Solomon: All through the interview, I saw a much closer 2015, 2016 Donald Trump but with a different policy lens because he now has the Biden agenda that he feels like he needs to reverse. You walk away from the interview thinking there’s a really good chance he’s going to run in 2024.
McCabe: Reporting for The Star News Network, Neil W. McCabe, Washington.
